6 months in....... 2nd post!

I failed.

I planned on writing a blog regularly. At least every week or so. But this is only my 2nd blog in 6 months. Oh well.

I've been in North London now for 6 months, and I'm still loving it. In 2 weeks I'm moving out of the flat I'm in, into a new flat in Shadwell, E1, with my girlfriend, Annie.
I'm super excited about this, it's our first place together so it'll be a lot of fun. I've enjoyed living here although I felt the time was right to move out, and "get serious" with Annie.

I'm also 17 weeks into my studies at the SAE and its awesome. So far I've only done theory, but it's all relevant and explained in such a good way that it makes sense. Next week we finally get into the studios, so all good. I've learned a shed load about Pro Tools, so I'm loving that. Now I'm learning acoustics and I'm thinking of building things to help make my mixing environment better.....

Anyway. Not a lot else to report really. I'm still skint. The temping job went well and enabled me to save some money, but I'm still living on a very tight budget.
Annie now works in London too, and stays at my flat when she works in the week. She brings bags of food each week so that's how I survive!

I have no plans for this weekend. Monday night I'm off to the pub as Leeds Vs Millwall is on. Sweet. I don't get out that much, due to being skint. A few weeks back I stayed in the pub after uni twice in 1 week, and subsequently spent about 3 weeks money.....

Hard times! I'll get by though. I have a £1500 overdraft, which I don't want to go heavily into, but I feel I'll have to so I might as well enjoy myself whilst I can! Then when I get a job, I'm sure I'll be able to pay it back. Hopefully......

Anyway, I doubt anyone reads this, but I feel great writing it, so for now - goodbye!

First Blog Entry

Hey all, if anyone is reading this - I'm Steve. I'm 23 and I've just moved to London.
I've been settled now in a flat in Finsbury Park for 2 weeks, and I'm loving London.
I share the flat with Barry and John. Barry is currently backpacking around Turkey for 2 weeks, so its just Me and John.
John is a lovely chap. A real funny and great guy, easy to get on with, and I feel lucky to find such cool house mates. Barry is also cool and a nice laid back guy. I've only lived with him for 3 or 4 days because as soon as I moved in, he was off to Turkey, but I look forward to his return!
In time I'll post some pics of the flat as it really is awesome, so keep an eye out!

For the past 2 weeks I've been exploring London, meeting up with friends and just enjoying myself. A huge plus factor for my London experience, is that a friend of mine who I know through a friend from Cambridge, has just moved in literally 2 minutes walk away.
We've hung out a few times and it's really great to know someone so close.
I feel London has a romantic feel to it, and I look forward to sharing lots of memorable times with my girlfriend, Annie, here.
I love the feel that every different part of London has. It's so diverse and there's so much going on. I love the touristy things. I love the different cultures. I'm so glad to be part of London now.

I thought I'd start a blog as it'd be good to write things down so I can look back on what I've written and laugh!
Anyway, I've previously had 2 rubbish years in Cambridge, so I'm eager to make the most of my time in London. My 2 rubbish years consisted of "studying" at Anglia Ruskin University.
I withdrew in January 2008 as they couldn't time table in my module choices they'd offered me, and in my opinion, the standard of teaching was very poor and the facilities equally poor.
If anyone is seriously considering Anglia Ruskin for Audio and Music Technology, I'd urge you to re-consider!

Why am I in London you ask?
From September 29th I'm going to be studying an Audio Engineering Diploma at the SAE, in Dalston. I'm very excited about it as it looks like an awesome place and I know I'll get so much from the experience.

So.......

Today I didn't do much - for a change.....
I don't have a lot of money coming in at the moment. I'm starting a temping job in 2 weeks, so I just have to be sensible with money really, which isn't fun as I'm looking to buy a small Pro Tools rig, but hey......
The one thing I did do today was walk. I walked from my flat, in Finsbury Park, to Old Street, via Kingsland Road in Dalston, so I could see the new premises for the SAE. I'm excited to be studying there as everything will be new, so hopefully pretty damn amazing!
However I was told it'll all be done by August 18th. From what I saw it could be a while longer.... I just hope its ready for when I get there!
It was a Long walk. It took me about an hour to get to Dalston at a leisurely pace, then another 10 minutes to Old Street Station from where I tubed it home!

I decided to walk for a) Exercise and b) To get to see the area.
I plan on cycling to and from the SAE so it was good to figure out the route!

My afternoon/evening consisted of just eating a stupid amount of food. I cooked myself an omelette and chips for tea, then John came home asking if I wanted some of his delicious Spag Bol that he was about to make.
I couldn't resist and an hour later, after John had made this Spag Bol, I tucked into a portion of that as well. Then i vegged out and watched Dragons Den ready to burst.....
Now, here I am writing this. Hopefully I'll have more interesting things to say in time, but for now - Good Night!
